Summary

Our partner, a digital transformation firm that designs and delivers modern commerce solutions for enterprise organizations. As part of a strategic engagement, our partner was contracted by Whirlpool Corporation (U.S.) to manage and modernize the e-commerce operations for a Gladiator product line, integrating Shopify-based storefronts with SAP-driven logistics systems. To accelerate delivery and strengthen middleware capabilities, they partnered with ParallelStaff as a nearshore strategic engineering partner.

The Challenge

The middleware layer, spanning two legacy versions, incurred significant technical debt, lacked documentation, had evolving SAP SOAP APIs, and had incomplete CI/CD practices. With no access to the original developers and active production systems supporting live commerce operations, our partner required a trusted nearshore partner capable of modernizing the architecture, integrating new SAP APIs, improving delivery lifecycle control, and strengthening monitoring, without disrupting revenue-generating operations.

“Our partner was responsible for ensuring seamless integration between Whirlpool’s Gladiator Shopify storefront and its SAP logistics platform.”

Our Solution

ParallelStaff partnered closely with the client to re-architect the middleware into a fully Rust-based, serverless solution running on AWS. The modernization introduced a DynamoDB persistence layer to support enhanced delivery tracking logic, strengthened Shopify (GraphQL) and SAP (SOAP) integrations, implemented improved monitoring and observability, and rebuilt CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable automated deployments. By consolidating the technology stack, eliminating accumulated technical debt, and aligning with SAP’s evolving APIs, we enabled our client to deliver a scalable, resilient integration layer that supported Whirlpool’s operational continuity and long-term digital growth objectives.

The Results

  • Reduced feature deployment timelines by 35%, enabling our partner to deliver new eCommerce capabilities to Whirlpool faster.
  • Decreased production incidents by 30% through architectural consolidation, Rust migration, and enhanced AWS monitoring.
  • Improved order synchronization accuracy by 40% and reduced manual delivery tracking intervention by 50%, strengthening customer experience.
  • Enabled the platform to support 3x higher transaction volume without additional infrastructure overhead, positioning Whirlpool for continued commerce expansion.
